Behchokǫ̀ search wraps with no missing person found, no one reported missing

A search for a potential missing person near Behchokǫ̀ has concluded with no one found and no one reported missing, according to RCMP.

On Tuesday, RCMP Corporal Matt Halstead confirmed the police had received “an as of yet, unsubstantiated report that a person may have gone under water near Behchokǫ̀.”

On Thursday morning, Halstead wrote that “the search that was underway has concluded. Nothing was found as a result of that search and at this time, no one has been reported missing.”

On Tuesday morning, a community member posted on social media calling for “at least 15 men to help me sweep the area as far as 100 yards out.” (That community member did not want to speak on record about the search.)

The RCMP and the fire department were also involved in the search.
