One person is in an Edmonton hospital after a single vehicle crash near Behchokǫ̀ early Sunday morning.

The Yellowknife Fire Division used the jaws of life to remove the driver, a 19-year-old woman, from the vehicle which had rolled over.

The woman was initially transported to the Stanton Territorial Hospital and later taken to Edmonton for further treatment, a press release says.

The RCMP as well as the community’s emergency medical services were at the scene of the incident on Highway 3, approximately 30 kilometres from Behchokǫ̀.

Preliminary findings from an ongoing investigation launched by the RCMP, suggest alcohol may have been a factor.
