Osama Nawaz will be appearing in court in Yellowknife on Monday facing cocaine trafficking charges among others.

The 19-year-old was apprehended earlier this week following an Inuvik RCMP investigation and search warrant.

Police seized about one ounce of crack cocaine and more 4,000 dollars.

According to RCMP, Nawaz is originally from Etobicoke, Ontario near Toronto.

Staff Seargeant Olena Newmen is the acting commander for the Inuvik detachment.

She said, “Illegal drugs are hurting our communities… This seizure helps in reducing the harm caused by illegal drugs in our community.”
