Michael Vandell re-elected as chief in DGGFN election

Vandell defeated challenger Xavier Canadien to remain as chief.

Michael Vandell will serve a second term as chief of Deh Gáh Got’îê First Nation.

That’s according to results shared by the returning officer on social media on Tuesday, following the day’s election.

Vandell defeated challenger Xavier Canadien by 178 votes to 110. Seven of the 14 candidates for councillor were also elected: Returning councillor Terry Sapp received the most votes with 215, followed by Ivan Landry with 205.

Also elected were Bradley Thom, Walter Bonnetrouge, Louie Constant, Sheldon Minoza, and Rickey Gargan.
