Firefighters are on the scene of a wildfire approximately 36 kilometres west of Behchokǫ̀.

The fire is approximately two kilometres from the Tlicho all-season road construction site.

A spokesperson from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (ENR) says there is no risk to the community or the construction camp.

But smoke could affect air quality in Behchokǫ̀ and Whatì, the ENR wildlife website says.

The fire reported to be 60 hectares in size Tuesday morning, has grown to 150 hectares by late in the afternoon.

Three crews and a fire technician are currently on the scene fighting the fire.

There are currently 20 active fires across the NWT, six reported in the last 24 hours.
