The Department of Infrastructure has posted an update to its website outlining changes to the ferry operations in the NWT.

All ferries will now have a passenger limit (see below), and passengers will need to remain in their vehicles. Ferry services will also operate “on-demand” during the hours shown below.

The department says workers will follow “enhanced cleaning and sanitizing practices” between trips. Passengers waiting on shore also need to keep 2 meters between one another.

According to the department’s highway conditions page, the MV Lafferty at the Liard Crossing near Fort Simpson is the only ferry to begin operating so far.

The department says it will continue to monitor ice and water conditions and will modify hours as needed.
