The territorial government is accepting applications for addictions recovery and aftercare funds.

The $780,000 annual fund will allow Indigenous governments to hire community-based counsellors, the department of Health and Social Services announced in a press release.

“These counsellors will support individuals living in recovery from addictions,” the press release says.

Indigenous governments negotiating, or in the process of negotiating, self-government agreements will have access to this funding until Sept. 1.

Indigenous governments can access up to $68,000 on a first come, first serve basis.

The remaining funds will be available for community organizations until March 31, 2022.
