The office of the chief public health officer (OCPHO) says the investigation into a case of COVID-19 at Diavik Diamond Mine is over.
The case was confirmed positive on Sept. 10.
Dr. Kami Kandola’s office sent a public health advisory saying the mine’s medical team tested the person’s contacts and all results came back negative.
“No medical care was required in this case and the individual did not interact with other NWT
communities,” reads the advisory.
The individual was from Ontario and has returned to the province. The case will also count towards Ontario’s numbers.
Dr. Kandola says residents should “feel confident that there is no reason to believe your community is at any additional risk because of it”.
This was the second confirmed case of COVID-19 at the mine.
