One new positive COVID case in Yellowknife

Public health is reporting one new case of COVID-19 in Yellowknife Friday evening.

This brings the territory’s total up to 48, with three probable cases awaiting confirmation, a press release says.

Of those who tested positive, 92 per cent are under the age of 18 — the release says the average age of those infected is eight.

Twenty of the positive cases were found to be variant B.1.1.7 which originated in the United Kingdom.

Over 1,200 people have been tested as of Friday eventing.
