Woman arrested, charges pending after weekend stabbing at or near Sunridge Place Apartments in Yellowknife

Yellowknife RCMP have arrested a 25-year-old woman after a man was wounded in a reported stabbing Sunday afternoon at or near Sunridge Place Apartments on 51A Avenue on the edge of the city’s downtown.

Mounties stated in an email to CKLB Monday that officers responded to the area over ther noon hour Sunday after a call about an assault.

“A male victim received a non-life threatening injury and was transported to hospital,” stated Julie Plourde, RCMP media relations officer.

Mounties however, are refusing to say how the man was hurt.

“As this is part of the investigation, the RCMP will not disclose how the man sustained an injury,” Plourde stated.

A source who did not want to be named tells CKLB the victim was stabbed.

Police have not identified him or the suspect, nor said whether a weapon has been recovered.

RCMP have not said if the suspect remains in custody, nor what she will be charged with.
