RCMP say a man has been arrested and is facing charges after another man was reportedly shot in the community of Tuktoyaktuk Sunday evening.

According to an email from RCMP, at approximately 8:50 pm on Sunday, Tuktoyatuk RCMP received a call for service about an incident involving firearm at a residence.

“Upon arriving on scene, they found a 43 year-old man with a non-life threatening injury. The man was transported to Inuvik for treatment and is listed in stable condition. Another man was arrested on site without incident and is facing charges. The investigation is ongoing,” the release states.

No names have been released but a source, who does not want to be identified, told CKLB that the shooting comes after a long-simmering dispute between two families and may be the result of an insult directed at a female.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call Tuktoyaktuk RCMP at 977-1111.
