The threat of flooding has passed in Hay River, but the area is still under a boil water advisory.
Glenn Smith, assistant senior administrative officer of Hay River, said the water levels are still a little high, but that the risk is passed.
Over 400 residents were evacuated from Vale Island and West Channel out of caution on May 4.
The evacuation only lasted three days and residents were able to return home after — there were no damages from flooding.
The area is now under a boil water advisory, something Smith said is not out of the ordinary after experiencing high water levels.
All water used for drinking, preparing food, hot and cold beverages, ice cubes, washing fruits and vegetables and dental hygiene must be boiled, a news release said.
However, the advisory is precautionary and is due to higher than normal levels of muddy water.
There have been no illnesses associated with drinking water reported in the community, the news release said.
