The deadline for donations to the Together, We Are Strong Campaign is extended until May 29.

The campaign is being organized by the Yellowknife Community Foundation and the United Way NWT with the goal to raise funds for community groups left vulnerable by COVID-19.

The Yellowknife Community Foundation said it will match every dollar donated to the United Way NWT. The initial pledge was $25,000 but has been raised to $75,000.

“The Yellowknife Community Foundation is deeply committed to the Together, We Are Strong campaign and are excited to increase our pledge of matching dollars to $75,000,” said Robin Greig, president of the Yellowknife Community Foundation, in a news release.

The initial deadline for the Together, We Are Strong campaign was May 15.

“Due to an overwhelming response from community donors, we are confident the United Way NWT will be able to raise the maximum dollars, which will be granted to immediate needs of community groups supporting those left vulnerable by the pandemic,” said Tracy St. Denis, board chair of the United Way NWT, in a news release.
