‘Understand, combat, adapt’ to changing climate using online library

Dozens of youth gathered at the Legislative Assembly in 2019 to call on MLAs to declare a climate emergency. To this day, the GNWT uses the term 'climate change.' (CKLB file photo).

A new, online technical library on climate change and action in the Northwest Territories is now live.

The NWT Climate Change Library was launched March 1 at the NWT Association of Communities Annual General Meeting in Hay River.

It houses scientific information, research papers, technical reports and innovative tools from government and beyond in one central location.

The platform aims to provide climate research, information and knowledge to those who are working to find solutions to mitigate and adapt to climate change in the NWT.

The government says the intent of the new library is to “empower users such as researchers, students and the public, as they seek to understand, combat and adapt to the effects of climate change.”

Minister of Environment and Climate Change Jay Macdonald stated: “By providing easy access to research and fostering knowledge exchange, we can accelerate progress in addressing climate change in the North.”
