Gerry Cheezie appointed health and social services chair

Gerry Cheezie has been appointed as the chairperson of the health and social services leadership council.

Cheezie began in the position on August 1 and will serve until July 31, 2025.

Cheezie was most recently chief of Smith’s Landing First Nation until this past June.

He is replacing Jim Antoine as chairperson of the council, which is the board of management for health and social services in the territory.

Cheezie has also previously served two terms on the Housing NWT board of directors.
