Police say a man in Hay River was medevaced to Edmonton on Monday after being shot.

Officers responded to a call about the man in “distress” in downtown Hay River about 11 p.m.

Police offered first aid until paramedics arrived and brought the man to the local health centre, before being medevaced.

“The Hay River RCMP have reason to believe this was a targeted shooting,” reads a news release.

However, police have not said whether they have a suspect.
