Délı̨nę residents should boil their water for at least one minute before consuming it, says the territory’s chief environmental officer.

The advisory due to high-than-normal turbidity, or very muddy water. The advisory is precautionary as there have not been any illnesses associated with the water yet.

The advisory says any water used for drinking, preparing food, and brushing your teeth should be boiled.

“This is of particular importance in the case of the preparation of infant formulas,” it says.

Water used for other reasons like showering and laundry does not have to be boiled.

The territorial government also has an FAQ on boil water advisory.

The Délı̨nę government and chief environmental health office will continue to monitor the water quality.
