MLA Thebacha Frieda Martselos was named the new caucus chair at the legislative assembly on Nov. 30.

Martselos takes over the position from MLA Yellowknife North Rylund Johnson.

Johnson served in this role for two years and says it’s been a “wild ride,” on social media.

“I find there (is) something poetic in the chair going from our youngest member to our eldest member.”

“I’m sure Frieda will keep us in line,” he wrote.

Now Johnson will take over as chair for the Standing Committee of Government Operations.

He says he’s looking forward to “chairing the review of public accounts now, as opposed to confidential meetings about member discipline.”– referencing the legislative assembly’s dealings with former MLA Tu Nedhé – Wiilideh Steve Norn.
