4 new cases of COVID-19 at Gahcho Kué

There is no identified risk to NWT communities at this time.

The total cases of COVID-19 at Gahcho Kué mine is now 10.

Dr. Kami Kandola, chief public health officer, confirms four new cases at mine on Feb. 12.

Out of the four confirmed cases, three are NWT residents and the other individual is an out-of territory worker.

According to a health advisory, every worker is considered a COVID-19 contact and De Beers has retested all employees.

Out of those contacts, 110 workers are isolating in Yellowknife.

There is no identified risk to NWT communities at this time.

Operations at Gahcho Kué have been suspended since Feb. 6.
