Customers and staff are now required to wear a face covering while inside all Walmart stores in Canada.

Health Canada identified masks or face coverings can reduce the spread infectious respiratory droplets that cause COVID-19,  says Felicia Fefer, spokesperson for Walmart Canada, in an email.

Fefer adds, 60 per cent of stores in Canada already have local mandates enforcing face coverings while inside.

But starting Aug. 12, stores that do not have pre-existing mandates will be required to enforce face coverings for both staff and customers.

Yellowknife does not have any rules requiring businesses enforce face masks.

When reached for confirmation face coverings will be enforced at the Yellowknife Walmart, a customer service representative told CKLB she has “no comment.”
