Folk On The Rocks is hosting an online performance event featuring Canadian musician Fred Penner and Northern Canadian duo: P I Q S I Q.

According to a news release, the performance will take place on Saturday, May 30 at 1:00 p.m. Mountain Time and the cost of tickets is $7.

“Opening for Fred Penner is the sister duo PIQSIQ. Born and raised across Nunavut and the Northwest Territories, Tiffany Kuliktana Ayalik and Kayley Inuksuk Mackay have come together to create a modern sound, rooted in Inuit style throat singing and tradition,” Sarah Frey, marketing manager for Folk On The Rocks said.

Frey says in its short history, PIQSIQ has performed on stages across North America and Europe.

“Their music celebrates and explores their Inuit culture, and the land they come from,” Frey said.

Fred Penner and PIQSIQ were scheduled to perform at the Folk On The Rock’s 40th-anniversary festival this July In Yellowknife, however, the festival was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“While we wish we could be welcoming these talented musicians into our community, we are overjoyed that we can celebrate them with you now,” Frey said.

Tickets of the show are available via Side Door, where ticket holders will be given a zoom link prior to the performance.
