A man’s idea to transport his snowmobile on the roof of his car in Yellowknife is gaining lots of attention on social media and he will not be ticketed by the NWT RCMP.

The RCMP responded with this statement after CKLB Radio asked if the person transporting the sled on the roof of his car received a ticket.

Julie Plourde is the Media Relations Officer for the Northwest Territories RCMP in Yellowknife, NT

“At this time, the RCMP didn’t issue a ticket,” Plourde said. “RCMP has been working towards engaging a qualified matter expert to look into the suitability of the transportation set up to ensure its safety and whether any regulation exists for the classification of the vehicle involved.”

RCMP remain committed to public safety and is investigating the matter, Plourde concluded.
