RCMP investigate after corrections officer hurt in NSCC altercation

CKLB has learned that RCMP are investigating after a corrections officer went to hospital following an altercation at the North Slave Correctional Complex (NSCC) in Yellowknife on Tuesday.

According to an email sent to CKLB on Thursday, Yellowknife RCMP were called to NSCC following an incident between an inmate and a corrections officer about 3:40 pm on Tuesday.

RCMP state that the corrections officer sustained non-life threatening injuries and received treatment at Stanton Territorial Hospital.

Neither the officer nor the inmate have been identified.

They add that no charges have been laid and state the incident is currently under investigation and therefore they say they cannot comment any further.
