NWT Coroner’s Service and RCMP Investigate Sudden Death in Fort Liard

Fort Liard RCMP confirm officers are now investigating a sudden death in the community, after they stated in a press release

that a body of an adult male was discovered Wednesday afternoon in the area of Big Creek, outside of Fort Liard.

Community members have told CKLB that the body was discovered on a trail near Bouvier Lake, where the man had a cabin.

Sources say a bear was also spotted near the man’s body on the trail.

The man’s name has not been officially released. RCMP are assisting the NWT Coroner Services with the investigation.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call Fort Liard RCMP or Crime Stoppers.

CKLB is extending condolences to friends and family in Fort Liard and across the Dehcho region.
