On Tuesday evening, Yellowknife RCMP blocked off a street due to a report of an armed and barricaded situation.
A news release does not make clear what the situation was.
The release says police responded to multiple complaints of a loud disturbance coming from Sunridge Place apartments on 51A Ave., at 5 p.m.
“After several hours, at approximately midnight, diversion devices, (loud bangs) were deployed by RCMP,” Marie York-Condon, RCMP spokesperson, said in an email. “As a result, an adult male was taken into custody without incident. No injuries were sustained during this incident.”
CKLB broke the news of the police presence on social media and counted eight units on the scene, as well as an awaiting ambulance.
The road is blocked on 51A Ave by the RCMP. There is also an awaiting ambulance. No word on what is unfolding. The street is completely silent.-Arthur C. Green

The city’s municipal enforcement and fire division was also there to assist.
“This was a single, isolated incident and the public was not believed to be at risk at the time,” York-Condon said.
The release said the investigation is ongoing and no more information will be released.
CKLB has reached out for clarification on what type of “diversion devices” were used.
RCMP replied saying it was “unable to provide details on the type of equipment or tactics that may be used in a call such as this” but clarified that no firearms were discharged.
