The Yellowknife Ski Club is offering free trail use for the remainder of the season to residents to promote social distancing.
“The trails are in peak-season condition for both skate and classic skiing,” Sara Minogue volunteer communications director said.
Minogue says, the Yellowknife Ski Club has 14 km of trails, many of which are sheltered from the spring winds.
“Beginners are encouraged to start with the Snowflake route (mainly flat and about 3 km) and progress to the 2.5 (a few climbs and two beautiful lookouts) before hitting the 5 or longer,” Minogue said. “There’s also a large trails map posted outside of the chalet.”
Although the Ski Club is currently in the process of closing their chalet for the season (though members are still able to enter to pick up gear). Therefore, all skiers are asked to enter and exit the trails without entering the chalet Minogue says.
“We normally charge $15 for individual one-day trail use, and $40 for families,” Minogue said.
The Yellowknife Ski Club says the forecast looks great so go enjoy some solo skiing during this beautiful weather.
