Digawolf is heading to this year’s JUNO Awards, the album Yellowstone has been nominated for Indigenous Artist or Group of the Year.
“It’s quite an honour to be nominated,” Jesse Gon, Digawolf frontman said. “I’m in Toronto right now and it’s quite an awesome feeling.”
Digawolf, who is a highly respected Tłı̨chǫ and English language band from Yellowknife, was nominated for the same Juno in 2010 when it was formerly known as the Aboriginal album of the year.
CKLB Radio asked Diga if he would be performing at this year’s JUNOS, his response was “Probably not,” but said he would if the opportunity arises.
“I will be representing the Northwest Territories, Yellowknife and especially the Tłı̨chǫ Nation,” Gon said. “I’m pretty proud of that and really proud of the Digawolf team. This is all about working with people and having a team around you.”
Three other albums have been nominated for this year’s award in the same category: nipiy by nêhiyawak, Siqinnaarut by Northern Haze and ataataga by Riit.
The awards are scheduled for March 15 at the SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon. Fans are encouraged to vote for their favourite nominee for JUNO Fan Choice at junofanchoice.ca
