The mayor of Aklavik is confident the community will have its flood damaged infrastructure repaired before the fall.
“It’s mainly just our roads… Got a bit of water damage and whatnot. So we’re just in the process of doing that right now,” says Mayor Andrew Charlie.
But he adds there is no structural damage reported.
Charlie says Aklavik hasn’t received money from the territorial government but says the community still needs to send in receipts.
Jay Boast, a spokesperson from the department of Municipal and Community Affairs, said an assessor isn’t required for the community due to no reports of private homes being damaged.
