The Government of the Northwest Territories extended the public health emergency for the ninth time on Thursday.
The announcement was made by Diane Thom, minister of health and social services, in a press release.
NWT residents entering the territory will continue to be required to self-isolate for 14 days in Yellowknife, Inuvik, Hay River or Fort Smith, before travelling to their home community.
The GNWT also reminds people that travel within the NWT is restricted upon arrival with limited exceptions.
“The global COVID-19 pandemic is not over,” the release says.
Some areas of Canada are seeing surges in cases as re-opening plans continue, a concerning trend that highlights the need for vigilance and public health measures, the GNWT says.
