Smith’s Landing First Nation (SLFN) invites community members and the broader Fort Smith community to participate in a survey surrounding climate change initiatives in the North.
“I suspect forest fires, access to clean water and safer travel routes for the northeast will be at the top of the priority list,” says Becky Kostka, land and resource manager for SLFN.
The study will help SLFN address the greater priorities and concerns for community members of the north (infrastructure, environment, traditional values) as the conversation around the influence of climate change develops.

“Assessing vulnerability and adaptation will help build a framework and action plan,” says Kostka.
She adds, “we’ve contacted western experts, Chiefs and knowledge holders to contribute to the conversation in assessing traditional practices with the influence of climate change in mind.”
The survey will take about five minutes to complete and can be found here.
Residents who complete the survey by July 31, you will be entered in a draw for a chance to win a prize.
