A Fort Smith man has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and robbery in connection with an incident that left two men injured late last month.

The investigation that led to the arrest of 19-year-old Christian Gordon also spawned a separate investigation into drug trafficking.

The incident took place on Sept. 30, when two men were discovered by local RCMP to have suffered serious injuries. One was sent to hospital in Edmonton due to serious facial injuries. Neither man was able to explain his injuries.

As police executed a search warrant related to the incident, they discovered evidence of drug trafficking at another residence, prompting them to execute another search warrant at that residence and seize evidence.

While Gordon faces three charges, an investigation into the drug trafficking is ongoing. Anyone with information to share is encouraged to contact Fort Smith RCMP at 867-872-1111 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or www.nwtnu.crimestoppersweb.com.
