Tuktoyaktuk has declared a temporary prohibition order beginning at midnight on Nov. 25.

This comes after the Minister of Finance, Caroline Wawzonek, approved council’s request to declare the community a prohibited area “due to special circumstances in the community that constitute a crisis,” reads the order.

Under this order, no resident shall consume, purchase, sell or transport liquor within community bounds.

The order expires on Dec.10
