For the first time in weeks, Yellowknife is reporting no new cases of COVID-19.
There are 111 active cases in Yellowknife, Dettah and Ndilǫ, meaning 14 people have recovered since Thursday.
Restrictions officially loosened in the three communities at 5 p.m. on Friday. The entire territory, except communities under additional COVID restrictions, are now under a gathering order that limits indoor gatherings to 25 people unless the business or facility requires proof of vaccination from all attendees.
Businesses planning to require proof of vaccination will still need to apply for an exemption.
These rules will not apply to schools and children will be returning to the classroom in Yellowknife, Dettah and Ndilǫ next Monday.
New cases are still emerging in other areas of the territory especially in Behchokǫ̀ and Hay River.
Behchokǫ̀ is reporting 77 total active cases, an increase of 11 in 24 hours, while Hay River now has 50 active cases, also an increase by 11.
Behchokǫ̀ is under temporary COVID-19 restrictions, while Hay River is under a gathering restriction and K’atl’odeeche First Nation is under a containment order.
Wekweètì is also reporting a new case.
There is still an active case Whatì, Fort Smith and Fort Good Hope, three active cases in Łutsel Kʼe, six active cases in Fort Simpson and 14 active cases in Inuvik.
