Residents of Yellowknife, Dettah, Ndilǫ and Behchokǫ̀ who are 75 and older are now eligible for a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The doses are being offered in those specific communities due to the current outbreak.

To be eligible, at least six months must have passed since receiving their second dose.

Research has found that a third dose of the vaccine offers additional protection to those who received their second dose at least six months ago.

This includes the National Advisory Committee on Immunization which recommends a third dose of the vaccine for long-term care residents and seniors.

The third dose will be administered on a volunteer basis.

Yellowknife, Dettah and Ndilǫ residents can book their appointments here or by showing up to the Centre Square Mall during walk-in hours.

Behchokǫ̀ residents can call the health centre to set up an appointment.

First and second doses are still available for those 12 and older and can be accessed at local health centres or public health offices.

Third doses have already become available for frontline workers and people who are immunocompromised.
