Minister Archie self-isolating after potential COVID exposure on flight

Diane Archie, minister of Infrastructure, addresses the safety concerns surrounding Highway 3.

Minister Diane Archie is currently self-isolating after potentially being exposed to someone with COVID-19.

In an emailed press release issued Tuesday evening, the minister of Infrastructure and Inuvik Boot Lake MLA says she was notified of a potential exposure during a domestic flight on April 24.

People sitting in certain rows on the flight were contacted by public health and required to self-isolate.

Archie says a preliminary test for COVID-19 came back negative but she is awaiting those results to be confirmed.

“It is an uneasy feeling being told I may have been exposed to COVID-19 and that the virus is in Inuvik, but I take comfort in the fact that the public health orders that are in place have been working for over a year,” she wrote in the press release.

Archie says she is also reassured by the fact she is fully vaccinated and encouraged any eligible adults who have not yet been vaccinated to take the opportunity to do so.
