The body of a deceased operator who was missing after his piece of equipment submerged in standing water, has been recovered.

An RCMP press release says a 58 year-old operator went into standing water near Fort Simpson on Dec. 8.

The RCMP was unable to recover the body as a result of poor weather conditions.

The BC RCMP Underwater Recovery Team was called in to assist and on Tuesday police announced the body was recovered.

The operator’s body is now with the coroner service.

The release say police extend their thoughts and prayers to the family of the deceased.
