Masks or face coverings will soon be required in all health facilities and offices across the territory.

The NWT health and social service authorities (HSS) began implementing a mandatory face covering policy for employees and the public at certain facilities on Monday, a press release says.

The HSS aims to implement the policy everywhere by Sept. 14, but officials are encouraging the public to wear masks in places where they are not yet mandatory.

“Wearing a mask is an easy and effective way to protect others and limit or stop the spread of COVID-19.”

Individuals are encouraged to bring their own face coverings, but staff may have some on hand for those in need.
