One building was destroyed after a structural fire in Inuvik on Friday, June 26th.

The fire on Airport Lake was just under one hectare in size and has been officially declared out, said Amber Simpson, wildfire prevention coordinator at the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

The Inuvik Fire Department was first to respond to the fire, Simpson says, adding an Environment and Natural Resources crew was called in to help prevent the spread of the fire.

No injuries are reported.
