As the old saying goes, “you can’t get there from here.”

RCMP in the Northwest Territories are reporting that they’ve been advised by the Alberta Highway Authority that Alberta Highway 35, which links with NWT Mackenzie Highway #1 at the provincial-territorial boundary, is closed due to a wildfire.

The Alberta Highway Authority advises the fire crossed the highway near Steen River.

Police state that NWT motorists are being requested to not attempt to travel south of Hay River.

The Department of Infrastructure has closed the highway at Enterprise and advise no one to travel by vehicle between Enterprise and the Alberta/NWT border.

The Department of Infrastructure will be providing updates on the road closure as they become available.
