Hay River RCMP say they seized suspected crack-cocaine and firearms from a Kátł’odeeche First Nation (KFN) residence on March 26.
In a news release Monday, police said they were called to a home, where they found drug and firearms and arrested three individuals. A further search led to the discovery of 60 grams of suspected crack-cocaine, a long gun and a pistol.
Following the investigation, a 17-year-old youth from Alberta, 43-year-old Daryl Smallgeese and 33-year-old Kyle Norn, both of KFN have been charged.
The youth faces four charges related to drug trafficking and firearms, while the two KFN residents have each been charged with three firearm offences.
Norn, who was previously released on bail, faces an additional charge for failing to comply with release order conditions.
The youth and Norn remain in custody, while Smallgeese was released with a condition to appear in court in Hay River at a later date.
“Hay River RCMP wishes to thank Kátł’odeeche First Nation for being steadfast partners in public safety and assisting with this matter,” stated the release.
The investigation remains ongoing, and RCMP are asking residents with information on this matter to call the Hay River police department at 867-874-1111 or submit a tip via Crime Stoppers.
