The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is now requiring all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by the end of November.
Previously the GNWT only required employees who worked with vulnerable populations to be fully vaccinated, but the GNWT announced in a press release the policy would be revised to include all employees.
The release says the territorial government engaged with the Union of Northern Workers, the NWT Teachers Associations and Indigenous governments before drafting the policy.
GNWT employees will have until Nov. 30 to be fully vaccinated.
Similar policies have now been implemented in every province and territory except Nunavut.
The press release says accommodations will be considered on a case-by-case basis and access to information relating to an employee’s vaccination status will be restricted to only the necessary individuals.
