Hay River RCMP reported a single-vehicle collision into a utility pole on June 5.
The suspect has now been identified as a 15-year-old male youth and has since been charged with the following:
- Two charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- Careless storage of ammunition
- Mischief over $5,000
- Operating a vehicle without a valid drivers license
- Fail to remain at the scene of an accident
- Minor consuming Liquor
No one was injured in the incident but the vehicle was severely damaged, as was the utility pole, reads the RCMP notice.

“This incident could have had far more serious results, both to the youth and to other motor vehicle drivers and persons who use the service road. It is a stark reminder that drinking and driving is never okay and can result in serious consequences,” he says.
