As part of on-going efforts to modernize the RCMP uniform, Mounties are changing to navy-blue uniform shirts.

Starting in April, frontline RCMP officers at detachments in the Northwest Territories will begin to wear their new navy-blue uniform shirts, stated a release.

The rollout of these new shirts has already begun in other parts of Canada.

RCMP officers may still wear the previous grey uniform shirts for the foreseeable future, meaning they can be seen wearing either the grey or blue shirts on duty.

G-Division spokesperson Cpl. Josh Seaward stated some members of the public might be confused over the new blue shirts.

He stated: “If you have any concerns about the identity of the police officer you are interacting with, you can ask the officer for identification.”
