Fred Sangris to serve another four years as chief of Ndilǫ

This will be his fourth term

Fred Sangris has received the most votes in the Yellowknives Dene First Nation election for chief of Ndilǫ, according to preliminary results released Monday evening.

The incumbent secured 131 of the 365 ballots cast, beating his nearest rival, Shirley Tsetta, by 20 votes. Elizabeth Liske received 90 votes, while Ted Tsetta earned 43.

Sangris will be sworn in for his fourth terms on August 23, after a five-day appeal period, if no appeal is filed.

In an interview with CKLB prior to the election, Sangris said his top priorities if re-elected would be advancing the Akaitcho agreement, improving housing delivery, and creating more economic opportunities the members.
