The town of Hay River announced on Facebook this Friday that the full fire ban has been lifted, originally issued on May 26 and effective through June 7.

Hay River residents are now allowed to use fire in fire pits under the partial fire ban, but no fire permits will be issued.

“This will be reviewed regularly and be returned to a Full Fire Ban when conditions change,” the town stated.

There are currently 12 active fires across the territory, 20501 hectares of land are affected.
