Man dies days after being assaulted at downtown Yellowknife bar

A 24-year-old man from Yellowknife is dead, possibly after being assaulted at the Raven Pub one week ago.

The man, whose name hasn’t been released, was brought to Stanton Territorial Hospital by EMS on May 15, while in medical distress.

Despite life saving efforts, he died in hospital, RCMP stated in a release.

RCMP suspect the suspicious death could have had its origins at an altercation between 1 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 11.

RCMP officers learned that the man may have been assaulted inside or outside the Raven Pub, at the corner of 50th Street and 51st Avenue.

RCMP and the Coroner Service are investigating whether this assault contributed to the man’s death, read the release.
