Behchokǫ̀ RCMP is searching for 54-year-old Ralph Beaulieu. He was reported missing after failing to arrive for a scheduled pickup at his cabin.
Beaulieu is described as being 5 feet 7 inches tall with grey hair and brown eyes.
Beaulieu was last known to be at a cabin located 40 kilometres west of Yellowknife, near Boundary Creek. The most recent communication from Beaulieu was a message sent to his friend on April 29th, indicating that he has begun his trip.
The RCMP says Beaulieu was dropped off at the cabin on April 23rd with a plan to head out on to the land on April 29th and scheduled a pick-up on May 8th.
However, he was not at the cabin on the pick-up date. A friend discovered his absence and contacted the police after midnight on May 9th. RCMP officers hiked into Beaulieu’s cabin around 2 a.m. that night and confirmed he was not there.
Despite an initial ground search by the RCMP, Beaulieu was not found.
Later on May 9th, the RCMP received a report suggesting that Beaulieu was seen at the hospital in Yellowknife. However, it was proved invalid, and the search was refocused back in the cabin area.
“The search for Ralph Beaulieu is on-going with the assistance of Civil Air Search and Rescue Association and Yellowknife Ground Search and Rescue as well as community volunteers,” says RCMP on an update on Monday, May 13th.
Residents who have seen Ralph Beaulieu or may have picked him up on the highway south of Behchokǫ are asked to contact the Behchokǫ̀ RCMP at 867-392-1111.
