UPDATE: Suspect Jeremy Charney was ‘safely arrested’ today near Hay River

The search is on for an armed suspect wanted by RCMP after an injured female was found in a Yellowknife residence on Thursday night.

Police are looking for 34-year-old Jeremy Charney, who was in possession of a handgun when he reportedly fled the assault scene in a Black 2021 Ford F-150 with NWT licence plate 302803.

The handgun was not used in the initial assault.

Police believe Charney has left Yellowknife and is traveling towards Alberta.

Anyone who sees the vehicle or Charney is asked not approach, but to call a local RCMP detachment.
