Randall Blake charged with manslaughter in Fort McPherson arson death

A man suspected of causing fatal fire that claimed the life of Clara Blake in Fort McPherson last month now faces a manslaughter charge.

Randall Blake, 27, was arrested and charged in connection with the December 15 blaze, stated an RCMP media release today.

However, on December 20, human remains were located, later identified as belonging to Clara Blake, 22, who had been reported missing since the night of the fire. Blake was described by police as being four-foot-11, approximately 80 pounds with black hair and brown eyes

Randall faces one count each of manslaughter and arson. He remains in custody pending a future court date.

Blake is considered innocent unless the Crown can prove its case in court.

RCMP officers have been securing the sight of the blaze to allow the Office of the Fire Marshal to conduct a scene examination.

Charges relating to this incident may be upgraded in the future, based on the results of the on-going investigation, stated Corporal Matt Halstead.

He continued to say, “The RCMP extend their deepest condolences to the family of Clara Blake and the community of Fort McPherson.”

Anyone who has information about this incident is asked to contact the Fort McPherson RCMP at 867-952-1111 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
