The Chief Public Health Officer has issued a health advisory over a confirmed case of hepatitis A (an infection of the liver), coming from a food handler working at two restaurants inside the Edmonton International Airport.
Any residents who ate at the Belgian Beer Café or Boston Pizza in early Oct. are advised to monitor for symptoms as illness can occur from 15 to 50 days after exposure.
Symptoms include tiredness, poor appetite, nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain, fever, dark-coloured urine, light-coloured stools, and yellowing of eyes and skin, reads a press release.
Some residents, including young children, may get hepatitis A without noticing any symptoms; however, they are still infectious to others.
If you believe to have symptoms, present to the local health centre to receive a prompt immunization.
